Beadwork

Several Native American/First Nations are noted for exquisite bead work. The woodland nations, such as the Ojibwa and Cree traditionally portrayed flowers in their designs. Plains nations, such as the Cheyenne, Crow, and Lakota, tended to use more geometric patterns. Both glass and plastic beads are used today. Glass has the advantage of being shiny, and appealing to European aesthetics (i.e., they sell better). Plastic beads are cheaper, durable, and they do not cut their supporting strings as easily. Prairie House Gallery Carries works in both media for your convenience.
