Preparing for Someone's Graduation?

Art is a gift that  lasts!

Electronic gizmos come and go.  Yesterday, it was VHS tapes and then DVD's and now

Blue Rays.  Cassette tapes and CDs have given way to doo-hickies and thing-em-bobs that

one downloads directly from the computer.

Through all that, old fashioned books can still be read

and paintings are still visible to the naked eye.

Again: Art, the gift that lasts.

OUR NEW PAGES AND PRODUCTS

PrairieHouseGallery.com (R) knows that economic times are tough for most of us right now.  As always, we will keep our expenses down and try to find value while still paying a fair price to our sources.  In this spirit, we have not raised the prices on most of our products during the past two years We have also added more ACEOs to our inventory. These miniatures are a great way to collect original art at a reasonable cost.

In our New "New Additions" page, you can find our latest offerings. This page only lists the last 30 items listed. If you haven't been here for a while, there may be more gems hidden amongst the pages! We have put a few more pieces into our stock over the past month.

You may also notice that some of our painters are missing. The paintings that did not sell over the past two years have disappeared into our personal collections.  If you have a particular interest in one of them, please contact us.  We hope to be adding new painters in the spring.

We have also added a few new proverbs to the rotating collection to the left.  We hope you enjoy them.

Also, check out our Link Pics and Midwest Artists links on the bottom menu. These artists are not affiliated with us in any way, but we like their work and hope to share them with you.

Enjoy your visit to Prairie House Gallery®.

Congratulations

Sondra Sula!

One of the artists that was with Prairie House for several years has struck out on her own!  We are sorry to loose Sondra as a Prairie House Gallery artist,  but we wish her luck.  Please do visit her new home page at http://sondrasula.imagekind.com/  .  Her work remains as creative as ever.  Good luck, Sondra!

She also has an upcoming groop show at a gallery in Aurora Illinois!

MADE IN NORTH AMERICA:
Green for Easter

Prairie House Gallery ® :

strives to bring you quality products produced within North America.  The vast majority of our products are made by artists within the United States.

 .     .

Unless otherwise specified, the works of art are made by artists within the Untied States. Because many people collect artists of specific Native American Nations, we try to provide you with the  the primary artist's tribal affiliation on all of our First Nation offerings.

What does "Made in America" Mean?

Made in America (or "Canada" or whatever) means that the artist who produced the final product is a national of the United States or the country indicated. He or she may have used materials made abroad.  For example,  the glass and plastic beads used for bead work could be made elsewhere.  Similarly, canvases and papers used by print-makers and painters could be from elsewhere.  It is the actual artwork that is Made in the designated country

What does a Nation-Designation Mean?

Native American Art is typically attributed to the National (Tribal/First Nation) identity of  the artist.  Sometimes, however, this designation may be difficult to make.  In Southwestern Art, the silverwork may be done an  artist of one Nation, and the stonework may be done by an artist of another nation. When a signature or hallmark is present, PrairieHouseGallery

® follows the convention of  ascribing the work to national identity of that signing artist. Otherwise, we follow the convention of ascribing the piece to the nationality of the artist primarily responsible for the design.

Our Green-Gallery Policy:

Prairie House Gallery®  strives to be a good neighbour.  We have reduced our carbon foot-print by purchasing carbon offsets, by contributing to the develop effective CO2 sinks, and by supporting reforestation projects. We use a small car to bring you fine art products and combine trips, hypermile when safe and possible, and we have purchased carbon-offsets to make our travels carbon neutral. We have also purchased offsets to help reduce the impact of our artists. We are avid re-users and recyclers, and  we use office supplies with post-consumer recycled content. We also purchase greener cleaning supplies whenever possible.  We also joined www.kiva.org microlending over a year ago, and with the goal of helping artists and other people world wide.

When you buy from us, you also help to reduce your carbon footprint in additional several ways.  If you are in North America, you will be buying artworks made in North America (reduced transportation impact, and support of North American artists and crafters).  You will be buying from a company that has a green policy.  By investing in North American arts and crafts, you also have a far lower impact on your environment than a similar amount spent on many other consumer goods.  You also help support the North American economy.

We appologise to our friends overseas.  The cost of shipping from the U.S. to Europe has become prohibitively expensive. Inquiries are welcome from overseas, but in our recent experience, the cost of shipping and the horrible U.S. delivery times usually makes the purchase unattractive to overseas buyers. You are still welcome to shop, but it may take some work to find a way to get the product to you.

Also, in these economically challenging times, we strive to be good corporate citizens in an additional way.  We keep our prices down and discourage over-extension of credit by not accepting credit cards directly.  We will, however, accept PayPal.  (It gives both of us some protection, and makes it just a bit harder to over extend that card.) We encourage you to pay-as-you-go for most items, and to pay off that credit card debt asap! Boy those charges can add up!
