Prairie House Gallery ™ acquired this beautiful hand-beaded belt buckle in the Crow First Nation (Montana) in the summer of 2006. The piece is not signed and the artist remains unknown.

The green star-burst pattern is atypical of the Crow bead work that we saw on our trip to Montana. This piece is particularly large, with a diameter of 3". It consists of a soft white skin backing covered in glass bead in two shades of green and in white.

Bead work among the First Nations of the Americas continues to change over time, just as do the art forms of other nations. This beautifully rendered piece is a testament to patients and creativity.
