This sandpainting measures 4"x8" and is of a
Navajo Yei (spirit). It is signed in pencil on the back of the
board. The title, Yei, is written above the
artist’s name. There is also an original sticker on the back explaining the
History of the Navajo Sandpainting. This
sandpainting is framed.
The colors are vivid, and the resolution is better than in this internet image.
NB: The Foster family has many talented sandpainters
in its ranks, some of which are included in the Navajo Art of Sandpainting by D. Congdon-Martin
(Schiffer Books,, 1999). C. Foster’s works are too recent for
inclusion in that reference text.
